News & Updates
NOVEMBER 28, 2024
Hello Bel Air residents. Happy Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had a great holiday and are now getting ready for the upcoming Christmas decorating contest!!
You may have already heard, but I wanted to take this opportunity to announce that the bridge to Bel Air School and the Bel Air pavilion/recreation area is going to become a reality in the coming months! The project was actually approved about 3 months ago but I did not speak about it until the project was actually ready to become reality. I did this out of respect of the persons from the State and County that have worked hard to make it happen. The project is now scheduled to begin and will be completed over the next several months, depending on winter weather conditions. The safety fence to block off access to the construction area from the school playground is now in place. I am told work should start in the next week or two. If old man winter cooperates, it will be done sooner than if we have a lot of snow. Either way it should be done by early Spring! Hurray! It has taken a “long” time but I think we are on the final lap.
If you have any question please reach out to me anytime.

I would like to thank everyone that has been involved in getting this important project back on the page and off to the road to completion! Thanks for standing strong and making it happen!!!

Good afternoon everyone! Just wanted to take a minute and remind everyone that the Bel Air Citizens Committee will be sponsoring the Second Annual Deck the House Decorating Challenge again this year!! Winners will be selected this year on Sunday night December 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is open to all Bel Air residents. There is no cost to participate. There will be Five prizes of $200.00 again this year. The top five houses, will again be selected by a group of independent judges that do not live in the Bel Air area. We encourage everyone to participate, big or small, biggest is not always best! We had over 400 houses that were decorated last year and they all looked awesome! Lets do it again this year, make our neighborhood sparkle with Holiday spirit and Christmas cheer!! Most importantly HAVE A GOOD TIME!
Lastly, a new addition for 2023 will be a Holiday event that will be held on December 18, 2023, on the parking lot at Bel Air Elementary School. We will announce the top five at that event along with other items for everyone to enjoy. Another announcement will follow this week with more details, but I have heard that Santa has agreed to make a stop at our event to visit with all the children and take some pictures!
Please feel free to give me a call or send and email with any questions or suggestions. Email is chairmanbacc@gmail.com
Have a great day everyone, Bill.

Over the next 8 to 10 weeks they will be applying weed killer and fertilizer to both fields. This is being done to improve the turf on the fields. Signs will be posted when it is applied and it will be posted here and on our new website. We will get more advanced notice on future applications. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks, Bill

Good Afternoon everyone. I have heard comments on this page recently that it has become hard to see information and communications about upcoming events and meetings on that are posted on this page. To help eliminate these concerns and improve communications I have asked Jenn Jeudy to develop a website for me and the Citizens committee. It is available today at belaircitizenscommittee.com I have also created a new email address for you to send your thoughts, concerns, questioning suggestions directly to me. The address is chairmanbacc@gmail.com. This will allow me to respond back to you quicker and will not miss messages which sometimes happen on Facebook. This page is not intended to impact the availability of the current Facebook page.
The new site will include an events page and calendar that we will keep up to date. It will also have a news and update page, a page with completed and upcoming projects and a suggestion box for everyone living in Bel Air to communicate suggestions.
I hope these changes/ addition will improve communications and make myself and the committee more available. You may also feel free to reach out to me at home or my cell phone at 301-697-0975
The Committee has accomplished a lot over the past three years and I am very proud of them We have several project already approved and ready to start as well as other projects planned for 2024 and 2025.
Lastly I would like to thank Jenn Jeudy, member of our committee for developing this website. She did an awesome job! Thank you Jenn I appreciate your hard work and support!
Have a great day,
Bill
